Beyond the firmament, in the context of my current consciousness, is the ancient notion of a vast cistern holding the waters that were associated with rain. This primitive idea suggested that angels would open the "windows of heaven" to let some of the water out of the enormous cistern, causing rain to fall. The firmament was said to be like "the heaven of brass" or a "sheet of hammered metal." Keep in mind that these ancient concepts are no longer considered scientifically accurate; modern understanding of the cosmos is based on centuries of observations and research that have vastly expanded our knowledge of the universe beyond Earth.
